The reason this tool exists:

I did not want to start a new game after finding out the base stats are fixed once you finish character creation.

And since the tool from a certain reddit post was not longer available I made my own.

One thing lead to another and decided to make it a portable single-file-self-extract-executable save editor.

If there is demand for it I will upload the project to GitHub.

Purpose

-------

Decrypt, edit, and re-encrypt Expeditions: Viking save files (.sav).

The game uses Rijndael/AES-128 in ECB mode with a 16-byte key.

IMPORTANT: BACK UP YOUR SAVE FILES

Always export a backup before saving changes.

This tool can overwrite your .sav file if you choose to.

Basic usage

-----------

1) Browse a .sav file OR paste ciphertext into the Ciphertext box.

2) Click "Decrypt".

3) Edit the plaintext:

   - Text editor: direct editing

   - JSON tree: easier navigation, safer editing

4) Save:

   - "Save (Overwrite .sav)" only works if you used Browse.

   - "Save (Export .sav)" always works and is safer.

Notes

- Large save files may take time to parse/expand in the JSON tree.

- The JSON tree uses lazy expansion to improve performance.

- No warranty. Use at your own risk.
